Hansa Yellow light has a high color strength and generates intense colors when used as a mixed color.
Especially when mixed with Phthalo blue, it results in a very bright and vivid green, as both colors do not contain red, which would weaken the hue.
Mixed with quinacridone pink it creates a very nice and bright red.
Use Hansa yellow light instead of cadmium yellow light, if you need a more transparent yellow.
Hansa Yellow is often used for environmental reasons as a substitute for the toxic, lead-containing chrome yellow.
Hansa yellow was produced in Germany in 1910 out of a series of synthetic dyes. It should be a substitute for cadmium yellow, but possessed initially a much lower lightfastness. The pigments were continuously improved over the decades, whereby today's common varieties are qualitatively not comparable with the initial pigments.
